Demure means meek, well-behaved, and unassuming. How boring! How limiting!

I’ve been told my whole life that I’m “too much.” I’m too loud, I have too much energy, I talk too much. Too this, that. 🙄

I’ve tried to make myself small to the point of severe illnesses and deep resentment. 😔

I’ve never felt more like myself than as a mother to two boys. Being a mom has taught me to unapologetically live my life and I REFUSE to start making myself smaller again. 💪💫

And you shouldn’t either! Not for anyone or any trend. 🙅‍♀️

Society says moms should be demure. We should be submissive, look at the #tradwife movement. We should stay in our lanes, even when it comes to our own bodies. We should dress modestly (Google @ciara Oscars dress). 👗✨

But the question stands, who is society to demand and limit us with these things? 🤔

Core’dio Sculpt is not just a workout. 💪🏽

You may have heard that motion is lotion and movement is medicine, but did you know that motion is the language of our emotions? It’s literally in the name. e motion

The word is believed to come from the French word émotion, meaning a physical disturbance. Meaning a BODY expressed disturbance. In Latin, it’s translated as emovere meaning to move through.

Movement is a critical accomplice to emotion. It’s how we express them but it’s also how we can heal.

Invitation for you: Pay attention to your emotions this week and see if you notice the body’s co-response.

What does it do when you smile? Or get scared? What is your body telling you that your mind may not yet know?

You know those days when you wake up in the mornin

You know those days when you wake up in the morning and the kids are crying and the house is still a mess and you feel like you’re already behind even though you barely opened your eyes?

What do you do?

Do you start your day flooded with overwhelm? Do you want to run away or yell? Or stay in bed and never come out?

What if you tried this: Just breathe

It sounds simple and in some ways it is….but breath can literally change your life (a 2018 paper on neuroscience is titled “How Breath-Control Can Change Your Life.”

Let’s try this together:

Wherever you are (still in bed, standing in a dirty kitchen, sitting on the loo with tiny visitors), put your hands to your chest.

You feel that heartbeat?

Now let’s take 3 deep breaths together:
Inhale…..pause…..exhale……pause

Repeat
Inhale…..pause…..exhale……pause

Repeat
Inhale…..pause…..exhale……pause

As you feel that heart rate coming down, maybe even silently repeat the words “begin again” on each breath. Begin on your inhale and again on your exhale. “ you got this”.

Try this ANY time you feel: anxious, overwhelmed, tired, or even when you just need to recenter yourself from too much excitement.

and remember…

Just Breathe, Love.

Your day can be overwhelming and chaotic. There are so many things out of our control! But you can always, always control your breath.

My kids need a mom who is sturdy and strong and, given the m0rt@lity rates of ongoing 3@ting dis0rd3r$ and my history, ALIVE.

I’m not going to lie, there are still days I miss my old body and flexibility…

But then I think about the extreme measures it took me to maintain that and I am SO grateful I’m able to choose health over extreme thinness. I know it’s not that easy for many people

But today I chose life over looks.

Motherhood is stressful and there are many times when you are trapped with your stressors (ahem your kids….), so it’s not like you can just walk away.

Instead we need to lean on tools we can use with our kids around and my number 1 tool for shifting energy for all of us: 🎶 MUSIC🎶

You don’t even need to have a full out dance party (though you know those are powerful too!). Just popping on something you love will shift the vibration of the whole family.
